Dan Atwater - Head Instructor
Shodan (Shinshin Toitsu Aikido)
Jokyu, Shinshin Toitsu Do (Ki development)

Dan Atwater has studied Aikido since the mid-1990's. While in middle school he attended children's classes at the Midland Ki Society, instructed by Vic Montgomery Sensei. After a high-school hiatus, in 2001 Dan resumed his training under Andrew Tsubaki Sensei at the Kansas Ki Society. Dan graduated from the University of Kansas in 2004, taking his longest (and last) hiatus from Aikido to get a PhD, start a family, and enter academia. In 2016 Dan and his family moved to Raleigh, NC where he resumed his training, led by Mayumi Case Sensei and Patrick Tarry Sensei at Raleigh Ki Aikido. In 2018 Atwater sensei began working as an Assistant Professor of Biology at Earlham College, where he founded Indiana Ki Aikido and the Earlham Aikido Club.
